Pity the night half in vain, not asking the people but the ghosts and gods.

The Fourteenth Chapter of "Interesting Stories about the Water Margin Characters"

1. It's not that Emperor Huizong of Song't "associate with virtuous ministers and keep away from villains," but he was entirely a puppet emperor who was deeply involved in the crowd of villains and only listened to words of the treacherous. A truly wise and sage monarch would never be deceived by villains for a long time.

2. The so-called wisdom means being very. A very intelligent person must be able to judge people. No matter how cunning the treacherous are, they can't escape the gaze of the wise. If doesn't even have the ability to judge people, how can one be called sage and wise?

3. Generally speaking, those who are fond of playing can almost become artists. Guan Hanqing of the Yuan Dynasty said of himself: "I play with the moon of Liang Garden, drink the wine of Tokyo, enjoy the of Luoyang, and climb the willows of Zhangtai. I can also recite poetry, seal script; play the zither, appreciate the bamboo sing the partridge, dance the hanging hand; hunt, play football; play Go, play double sixes."

4. As a failed politician, Emperor Huizong Song was cursed for all eternity on the pillar of shame of the Jingkang Incident. However, he also added a glorious stroke to the history of art. It really laughable and tearful.

5. Emperor Wen of Han summoned the exiled minister Jia Yi to ask about the matters of ghosts and gods. Li Yan unceremoniously criticized him: "It's pitiful that in the middle of the night, he vainly moved forward his seat, not asking about the but about ghosts and gods."
